In this thrilling book, we follow the story of a young girl who has come to the age where she must choose a faction. This will change her whole life. This is set in Chicago far in the future. There was a war that caused tragedy across the country. The society decided that the war happened because of the virtues of people. They broke everyone up into five different factions. Dauntless (bravery), Candor (honesty), Erudite (intelligence), Abnegation (selflessness), and Amity (peacefulness). Beatrice prior took a test to figure out what faction she should choose, but the results revealed that she was divergent, and has an aptitude for three factions. Dauntless, Erudite, and Abnegation, She chooses dauntless, and is hit hard with the reality that she has to fight for her life. Literally! As she continues she sparks a lively relationship with her instructor. In the end of the book, she must stop a mind-controlling simulation. Through intense labor, and the loss of close people, she survives.
