The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

It's about a little creature called a hobbit. Hobbits are a very special kind of creature with hairy toes, potbellies, and they are about as tall as your knee. The are very civilized and lack the need for adventure. This particular hobbit was named Bilbo Baggins, a kind but timid fellow who lives in a beautiful hobbit hole and has never had a single adventure in his life. One day a wizard named Gandalf comes along. After a short conversation, he scratches a sign on Bilbo's beautiful green door. Next thing you know, Bilbo's hobbit hole is infested with dwarves who sing and dance and eat and drink. They take Bilbo on his first adventure to retrieve stolen treasure from the young and ambitious dragon named Smaug. Along the way Bilbo runs into many other creatures he's never seen before, including elves, trolls, goblins, humans, and of course, man-eating spiders.

I know it sounds like the typical disney story, but it's really not. It's written in a unique and beautiful way that makes Bilbo's journey unique and wonderful too. You should totally read it. And even though I haven't watched them, everyone tells me that the movies are cheap and horrible and nothing like the real book. Apparently they added romance and all this violence and stuff. So even if you've already watched the movies, I recommend reading the book anyway. It's one of my personal favorites. It's awesome. Touching. Dramatic. Tragic. Beautiful.
So you should totally read it.
