Imagine being different. Imagine looking different. Imagine walking down the street while people gasp and point. Imagine having to wear an astronaut helmet everywhere you go for three years because you don't want people to see your face. Imagine having Halloween be the only day you will ever be treated normally. That's what life was like for August Pullman. But one day, everything changes. August is sent to 5th grade to begin middle school. Up until then, August has been homeschooled all his life, due to the fact that he was born with a facial deformity. But when he goes to school, his life becomes even harder than it already is. He learns how to deal with different kinds of people. Some friendly and some not. But he's not alone. His family will be with him the whole way. Not to mention his friend Summer.
