WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS BOOK IF YOU ARE EASILY SCARED OR HAVE ISSUES WITH BLOOD OR INJURY.
(I have friends with these problems, sooo...)
This is a story about a girl who is thrown into a world of legends, stories, and, or course, a bit of magic. Remember all those tales of vampires? Werewolves? Faeries? Demons? Warriors for good and evil?
Well, all the stories are true. To some extent.
But people aren't nearly as frendly and loving of other kinds as we seem to be in faery tales. And that creates problems.
Duh.
Clary is thrown right into the midst of this when her mother disappears, she gets attacked by a Ravener demon, is and whisked away to the Institute, where Shadowhunters, the protectors of humankind, train to kill demons.
But there are more issues. Clary seems to be a mundane (just your average human) but then again, she can take a Mark that could have destroyed a human. And now, a man is back from the dead, looking for the Mortal Cup, so he can raise an army, at the same time Clary's apartment was ransacked, and her mother taken.
It can't be a coincidence, can it? Could Clary's mother have anything to do with the Shadowhunter world? And what about Clary's father, who died before she was born?
This is an action-packed and mysterious novel that combines everyone's knowledge of the faery world with a realistic touch.
Although, I do have to say, one reveal that should have been huge was instead hugely obvious before you were supposed to know.
If you liked the PERCY JACKSON series, you should love this!
Read, my friends, READ!!
