Love That Dog by Sharon Creech

In this book, a boy is communicating with his teacher through his schoolwork of writing poems. It shows how he dosen't understand what is so good about poems, and is eventually enjoying more and more. He starts opening up about a yellow dog that he got from the pound, and is writing good poems about him. At first when the teacher asks him if she/he can put it on the bullitin board, he says yes, but has her/him keep it anonymous. Then, he decides to let it be his own.
I recommend you read this book, if you like real life stuff.
