Paper Things is a book about a brother, Gage, and a sister, Arianna , who are 7 years apart. When Ari was young her father died in the army. Later her mother got sick and died. In second grade Ari and her brother went to live with her mother’s old friend Janna. Ari and Gage have never forgotten what their mother’s two most important wishes were : That Ari get into Carter middle school ( a school for the gifted, although it used to be just a regular middle school when Gage, her mom, and her dad went to it) and that Ari and Gage always stay together. Since they had moved into Janna’s house (3 years before) Ari and got along really well her but Gage and Jaana were constantly fighting. Now that Ari is in 5th grade she has to show that she is a star student and get a leadership role to write about when she applies to Carter ( examples of leadership roles: crossing guard, library helper, etc) One day Gage decides to move away from Janna and Ari comes with him because of her mother’s dying wish. When it turns out that Gage doesn’t have an apartment or a job, Ari discovers that they are homeless and she has to deal with a lot of things an 11 year old shouldn’t have to deal with and make a lot of tough choices that most people don’t have to make. Will Ari be able to survive all this and still be able to keep her grades high enough for Carter and keep her friends? I will make you read the whole book to find out!!!!!! Seriously read it though, it’s an amazing book. :) 📖📚
