Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

If you could ask the author/illustrator of this book one question, what would it be?

Uglies is a book about a girl named Tally in a futuristic society where at sixteen you turn pretty. The society has many hidden secrets within it that Tally finds throughout the book. It has a completely different structure than the world we live in today. I am impressed with how the author created a setting made of his own rules, landscape, government, and people. I have many questions for the author about how he crafted the book. What inspired him? How long did it take to put it all together? This book really made me think about our world. I wonder what the author thought was the balance between freedom and control. What will our future look like? Uglies is a fascinating book that really made me think about how we should live.
