The Fellowship of The Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien

This is the first in an amazing trilogy.
It takes place in medieval Middle - Earth, where elves and dwarves walk. A ring of power has been found, the One. The One has a tragic backstory of death and blood leading back to Sauron, the Dark Lord. Now, he is searching for the ring, which is currently on Frodo Baggins, even as he goes to Mount Doom to destroy the Ring. For if it was to be in Sauron's ownership again, there would be no stopping the darkness.
So it is that Frodo goes on a quest full of peril and sanctuary, betrayal and trust, to find the only way of stopping the Dark Lord
