Boys Without Names By Kashmira Sheth

Describe a part of the book that made you feel something strongly (i.e. something that made you cry, laugh, get really angry, etc.)

I felt pain for Gopal (the main character) when he moved to Mumbai. Mumbai is a big city in India very different from the small village Gopal used to live in. Gopal was forced to leave his home when his father couldn't pay the debt he owed. Gopal's family snuck away to Mumbai to live with Jama (Gopal's uncle) and to find work. Struggling with the journey to Jama's home and the lack of jobs, Gopal's family began to live a life of poverty. Desperate and in need of money, Gopal was tricked and put into a terrible situation. I can only imagine how many people there are in the world suffering under difficult circumstances. It hit me hard when I read about what Gopal had to go through. This a sad but interesting book that allowed me to look at the world in a different way.
