It's about these seven boys who live in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The main character is Ponyboy. His parents are dead and all he has are his three brothers and his "gang". They live in a place where there are two main classes in society. The Greasers, which are the poor people, and the Socs (Socials), who are the rich guys. They're away fighting and getting into rumbles. But then someone takes things too far and a Soc ends up dead. So Ponyboy has to run away and gets caught in a fire and more people die and suicide and etc.
