If you are familiar with this series, you know how this works. A bunch of different authors write in and make their own stories about a topic. Then, they are put together in a book. The topic could be science fiction, humor, or in this case, stories about a period in their childhood that relates to how they became a well-known writer or illustrator. Though it may sound boring, it really is interesting.
