The most exciting read i've ever experienced. But it definitely won't intrigue you at first. The novel main character is Frodo. The story will gradually advance out of bag end(the village of Hobbits), the shire, and into the old forest where there finally comes the fear of death and the mysterious creature you've been waiting for. The wait is worth it. I kept reading until the end. the reward is great. So don't judge by the first fifty or so pages.
