Spinning by Tillie Walden

If this book were set 100 years in the future or the past from when it takes place, what might be different about the plot, characters, etc.

If this book was set 100 years in the past, Tillie wouldn't have done a lot of things. I don't know how much of a common thing it was to do ice skating in the early 1900's, but my guess is that there wouldn't have been the type of lessons Tillie took. That would also apply to competitions. There wouldn't be a huge rink, and make-up, and the stage lights, and the frightening audience. All that makes me wonder if Tillie would have even done ice skating in 1900- she technically wasn't alive then.
