All American Boys by Jason Reynolds

If this book were set 100 years in the future or the past from when it takes place, what might be different about the plot, characters, etc.
If this book were set 100 years in the past, the plot might actually be fairly similar, except everything more extreme. The book is about police brutality and the black lives matter movement, and how teenagers in our own country deal with that. 100 years ago, in the U.S., we were a very segregated country, and as the book reflects, some of that mindset of 100 years ago still exists with us to this very day.

The plot would be different because the black and white students would not attend the same school, so some of the events that happened in the book would not occur. Also some of the characters might be less open-minded, and less accepting of integration, because of the mindset in place at the time.

All in all, this book was a very refreshing reread, and very inspiring.
