If you could ask the author/illustrator of this book one question, what would it be?
Number the Stars is the story of a Nazi occupied Denmark at the beginning of World war two. The main character Annmarie has always felt the impacts of the war and she thought that she had felt loss until her best friend Ellen, who is Jewish, is targeted by the Nazi's. Annmarie her mother and her sister must help Ellen and her family make a daring escape from Denmark to Sweden.
I would ask Lois Lowry if she got some inspiration for the book from Anne Franks diary since there are some similarities between Number the Stars and Anne's diary.
