Deenie is a beautiful girl, whose mother is hoping will become a model. All of a sudden, she is diagnosed with scoliosis. Her life changes completely. Her mom is depressed, her dreams of Deenie becoming a model, crushed. Deenie herself finds many changes in the way people look at her. This book shows the struggle of being different. If you liked this book, you should read Are you there God? It's me, Margaret, also by Judy. Both these books deal with growing up.
