When My Name Was Keoko by Linda Sue Park

What would you want to see happen to the characters after this book (or the last of the series) ends?

When My Name Was Keoko is a truly incredible story that alternates between Sun-Hee and Tae-Yul, brother and sister, through the span of fives years (1940-1945). It is based on the true happenings when Japan took over Korea. Sun-Hee, a girl who is an expert at schoolwork, and Tae-Yul, her older brother who has a passion for planes, start going through hard times when the Japanese force the Korean to do things; change their names to Japanese ones, give the Japanese their metal. After the Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor and his family goes through more hard times, Tae-Yul knows that he must join the army in order to provide his family with food and other necessities. He ends up becoming a kamikaze (a pilot), and, about to go on a mission that he knows will bring his death, the weather becomes terrible, and he returns home, to the happiness of his family. In the end things get back to normal, and I definitely recommend reading this book to find out exactly wha t happens! After this book, I would want to see Uncle (my favorite character) return.
