Little dog, Lost by: Marion Dane Bauer
A little dog is living the life at his safe home. One day his family has to move, and everything changes. The little dog suddenly finds himself lost. Little Dog, Lost. This book is so good, but so sad. At first I didn't want to read this book, but I had nothing else to do so I picked up this book and enjoyed it. There is a part though that is just a little weird. (The dog and boy kiss on the lips.) Anyways I really recommend this book.

Feng Shen Ji by Tang Chi Fai
This book is a great motivation for doing what you believe in or rising up to a challenge many others feared or avoided. A king in a powerful kingdom decided that gods were no more helpful to the humans and controlled humans as their puppets. He believed that it was time to end the era of the rule of the gods. Although the king did not succeed, his son rose to the challenge and succeeded. This shows that success is not obtained through want or desires. However the desire or want to obtain a specific win should be the drive to start the journey toward the success. This book is beautifully written and drawn. It should win some awards for its concepts and the story as a whole.

Each books in the series may be small or contain few amounts of pages, but the plot and story are humongous which shows how careful the author created the plot in which she can bring a score to the readers but it short as well. WHEEL ON THE SCHOOL BY MEINDERT DEJONG
This book takes time around the 1800s. It takes place in a small village in Holland called Shora. This book is a historical fiction. The message of this book is that “when you start wonder you begin to make things happen”. This book was written by Meindert DeJong.
This book is about school children (Lina, Jella, Auka, Pier and Dirk) who start to wonder why storks didn’t come to Shora to nest. “But why don’t storks come to Shora, but yet they go to all the towns around Shora to nest?” All the children asked the same question over and over again. So they all set out to find a wagon wheel, because storks nest in wagon wheel’s that are on rooftops. Like their school teacher said “when you start to wonder you begin to make things happen”. Well when you read this book you will ask those same questions and start to wonder…
I like this book a lot because when you read this book you start to feel like you are in this book. I would love to try other books from this author and would encourage you to, too! Read this book. It is so wonderful and your mind will be full of wonder.

This is an article that was written up on NBA.com about the evolutionary game that was played in Chicago. Brazil vs. USA basketball in order to start a FIFA World Basketball tournament. Growing up loving and living basketball I find this story life changing. It speaks of Derrick Rose coming once more after his knee surgeries. This kind of determination is rare. It highlights what we couldn't see but shows us why we should see. It makes us watch the game from new perspectives. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
Mockingjay the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy written by Suzanne Collins. It's the very last book in the trilogy. My reasoning as to why i believe this book is called Mockingjay is because some role play is being done where one person is pretending to be another. Mocking one another. Like a mockingbird. The books last and has a few sad parts I wish I could rewrite but that's what makes the book so suspense filled.

I really enjoyed this book because this book is Amy’s own account of her own life and just it is a fascinating story. I would read more by this author and would encourage you to as well. I would give it a 10 out of 10 stars.

This book is about a girl named Amy Carmichael, whom was born and raised in Ireland. She was raised as a Christian and grew up to be a Christian missionary to China, Japan and even India. She traveled to China and Japan, first and stayed for a couple years and then she felt as if God was calling her to India and then she traveled by boat to India. In India she had to learn their language and respect their way of life. She even got to wear a sari [a traditional Indian dress]. Later she preaches God’s word on the streets and then opens up and orphanage or group [as they were called] Starry Cluster. The Starry Cluster helped runaways or orphans to survive. They sheltered them, prayed for them and even kept them from starving. What will happen to the Starry Cluster and Amy and the orphans and runaways? Read it to find out!

REBECCA OF SUNNYBROOK FARM BY KATE DOUGLAS WIGGIN
Rebecca narrated this book. This book is a first-person narration. The narrator was a reliable source of information, considering this book was about her own life. This book takes place around the late 1800s to the early 1900s in Riverboro. The message of this book is that you don’t have to feel trapped in an imaginary life and dream about what your life could become but live it with freedom and then you will realize you will enjoy it better. The genre of literature is a classic.
This book is about a ten year old girl named Rebecca Randall. Rebecca gets sent to live with her aunts when she is ten years old because, her mother cared about Rebecca’s education. Her aunt Miranda did not want her, she wanted Rebecca’s older sister, Hannah instead. However, her aunt Jane was a loving, kind person and she loved that Rebecca could stay with them. Rebecca felt all alone in Riverboro, until she meets the Cobbs and her best friend. Mr. and Mrs. Cobb love how sweet Rebecca is and soon treat her like a granddaughter. Emma Jane is her best friend in the whole world.
I really enjoyed this book, because she listens to her heart and becomes a young lady. I would really love to read more by this author. I would encourage others to read this book because, it is fascinating and I think a lot of people will love this book.

Bearable Days Book One: The Orphanege By: Kelly Lee Smith
This is a great book. A boy named Jamie and his teddy bear Simon are sent to an orphanage while people look for Jamie's parents who seem to have disappeared right under thin air. The headmistress of the orphanage though, is cold-hearted and mean. The moment Jamie comes she takes Simon away and doesn't give him back. Some how, during a storm though, lightning hits Simon and he becomes alive. This is an awesome, amazing book. I would recommend it readers of all ages and especially those who like teddy bears. --Madeleine

Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm
It's a kind of funny book about a girl whose mother works as housekeeper for rich families during The Great Depression. Her mother's new mistress doesn't like children, so Turtle is sent to live with her aunt. Her aunt has a lot of boys, so Turtle has to learn how to get on with them, because even though she's played with boys before, they were always the children of her mother's mistress. One day she discovers that the cranky old woman that Turtle's aunt has her take food to, was, in fact, her grandma! And, Turtle discovers in her grandma's piano, a cigar box with instructions to find a buried pirate's treasure! Will they find it, or will the treasure be lost forever? --Anita

Shadows by Robin McKinley
It's really, really, really good book about friendship and trust. Maggie, the narrator, lives in Newworld with her mom and her brother, Ran. Her dad died in a car crash 2 years ago, I think. Newworld is all about science; magic is banned and they gene-chopped everyone who is born with a magic gene. Unlike Oldworld, Farworld, Midworld, and Southworld, They have a scientific explanation for everything. Maggie is going into her senior year at high school. She's seventeen, and right around when her dad died, Pepperoni & Pineapple opened. Since then, it was a family tradition to eat there. But then her mom brings a new boyfriend home, Val, and she wants to share her custom with him. Only now, because Maggie doesn't like Val, she suddenly doesn't want to eat pizza anymore. Of course, she goes out with her friends there, which is how one day she meets Casimir. Casimir was not born in Newworld, so he knows other things, customs and phrases. Well, the book takes a big turn after that, and Maggie's mom marrying Val. Read the book for more! --Anita

Curt's great-grandfather, Nikola Tesla, and Tom's great-great-grandfather, Thomas Edison were rivals, but, once upon a time they were friends. Will Tom find the formula, or will he be forced by Mr. Keller to move to Wichita, away from Noodle, Colby and everyone he knows?

Scraps of Time 1960 by Patricia McKissack
This book takes place in Tennessee in 1960 during the time of segregation. The message of the book is that everyone is equal. This book is a historical-fiction. Patricia C. McKissack is the author of this book. She has written over one hundred children's books and is also a Newberry Honor winner. This book takes you on the adventure with Grandma Gee (Abby) who travels up into her attic with her grandchildren and is making a scrapbook of times from when she was younger, because their family reunion is coming very soon. While she is up in the attic with her grandchildren she tells them what it was like in the 1960s and about segregation and sit-ins. If you would like to travel back in time to 1960 I would encourage you to read this book.
I loved this book so much. It was a touching story but it was also fascinating. I would like to read more by this author. I would five it a 10 out of 10 stars.

Sugar by Jewell Parker Rhodes
This book takes place on a sugar cane plantation in Louisiana in 1870, and is narrated by a ten year old girl, named Sugar. The main message of this book is that you can choose for yourself and that nobody else can make big decisions for you. This book is historical-fiction. This book takes you on the journey of a free, African-American girl, who works on a sugar cane plantation in Louisiana. Her mother died of a sickness and her father was sold as a slave a couple years back and now Mister and Missus Beale take care of her. She brings the whole River Road (the name of the plantation she works on) community closer together, even Mister Wills (the owner of River Road) comes closer to his workers. He even hires new workers to work on his plantation. I would encourage you to read this book if you want to know what happens to Sugar.
I liked this book a lot. It was a heartwarming story and its details were incredible. I would like to read more by this author. I would encourage you to read this book because in every chapter there is a new adventure and also because of how beautifully detailed this book is. I would give it a 9 out of 10 stars.

Blood Ties by Garth Nix & Sean Williams
This is the third book in the Spirit Animals series. Meilin does something pretty selfish and runs away to find her father. She ends up being hunted while the rest of the group are completing a challenge so that they won't be killed. This is a fantasy and action filled book, but I recommend it to everyone who likes animals.
