Penguins are Water Birds

All penguins can walk, slide and swim but they cannot fly. There are 17 kinds of penguins this is the biggest kind of penguin it can grow to be four feet tall it's called the Emperor Penguin. The smallest kind of penguin it grows to be the size of a small duck. All penguins live in the bottom of the world. They live close to the water some live where it is warmer. They live on land. Penguins live on beaches, on islands and on rocks. They use the flippers to swim. Their webbed feet help them swim fast. They slide on the ice on their bellies. They have long bodies to make swimming easier. Their short feathers help keep them warm and dry. Mother penguins lay eggs. The eggs must be kept warm so they can hatch. Baby penguins are called chicks. Each penguin family has it's own call. It will spend most of it's life in the water
