WHEEL ON THE SCHOOL BY MEINDERT DEJONG

This book takes time around the 1800s. It takes place in a small village in Holland called Shora. This book is a historical fiction. The message of this book is that “when you start wonder you begin to make things happen”. This book was written by Meindert DeJong.

This book is about school children (Lina, Jella, Auka, Pier and Dirk) who start to wonder why storks didn’t come to Shora to nest. “But why don’t storks come to Shora, but yet they go to all the towns around Shora to nest?” All the children asked the same question over and over again. So they all set out to find a wagon wheel, because storks nest in wagon wheel’s that are on rooftops. Like their school teacher said “when you start to wonder you begin to make things happen”. Well when you read this book you will ask those same questions and start to wonder…

I like this book a lot because when you read this book you start to feel like you are in this book. I would love to try other books from this author and would encourage you to, too! Read this book. It is so wonderful and your mind will be full of wonder.
