Felicity Merriman is growing up in 1774 right before the Revolutionary War.She loves to ride horses and is sometimes tomboyish.She does't like sitting down kinds of activities like stitching,dancing and penmenship as mentioned in the book.In this story she finds out that a new horse is in Williamsburg
she sees the beautiful hosre and names her Penny because she's a beautiful copper color like a Penny.But Penny is owned by the cruel tanner-Jiggy Nye.So she sneaks out out of her house every morning to tame Penny and visit her without her parents knowing. Then one day Felicity's younger sister,Nan finds her riding Penny and call her parents after the parents come they say she's not to take rides with Penny because it's not her horse after that talk Jiggy Nye comes and take Penny Edward Felicity's father tries to buy her but Jiggy Nye doesn't want to do Bissnuess with the Merriman family.At the end Felicity learns the lesson of patience.[ P.S this is the first book in a series.  --Lenah

It's 1934 and the Great Depression has hit America harsh,Including Kit Kittredge's hometown of Cincinnati.Kit's Family is affected by the gloomy days of the Depression.Her Father lost his job.And the Kittredge take in boarders to makes money.Boarders rent rooms in Kit's house so Kit has to make a room for herself in the attic.Kit's best friend is Ruthie Smithens. Ruthie is kind, helpful and intelligent,her family is not effected by the Depression.Her father works at the bank where the Kittredges are clients.
I Really Loved this book it's sad on how Kit's father lost his job and Kit's family doesn't have a cent to spare on Fancy Gowns,Dance Lessons,Restaurants and treats of all kind.
