In the book Ghost by Jason Reynolds, it follows the life of a boy named Castle Crashaw. When Castle, a.k.a. Ghost, was very little his father who was a drunk, used to go crazy. One night Ghost’s father chased him and his mother around the house with a gun. One day walking home from school, Ghost, stops and sees a running team practicing, when he decides to race one of the fastest runners on the team, the coach begs him to join the team. What took everyone one by surprise was how this team ended up like a family, it all had its ups and downs.

Big Man In Chi-Town by Steve Aschburner

This is an article that was written up on NBA.com about the evolutionary game that was played in Chicago. Brazil vs. USA basketball in order to start a FIFA World Basketball tournament. Growing up loving and living basketball I find this story life changing. It speaks of Derrick Rose coming once more after his knee surgeries. This kind of determination is rare. It highlights what we couldn't see but shows us why we should see. It makes us watch the game from new perspectives. This is a very fast-paced basketball book about a boy named Drew Lawson who plays basketball for his high school and is trying to get into one of the good colleges to play basketball there. Drew has a basketball coach named House who everyone thinks is weird because he sits out his best players at the times where they are very much needed. Drew has big dreams for the future like being a future All-Star NBA player but he thinks that his coach will not help him by sitting him out even though that he is the team's All-Star and best player on the team. This is a very good book and I'll rate this book 5 out of five stars. - Beseleel

Is a very good book a very fast-paced book about a boy named Adam who was almost struck by lightning bolt and after that scary event his freckles begin to talk to him and he had a new friend named Grayson who is the best soccer player on the fifth grade soccer team. Grayson teaches Adam a lot of new tricks about soccer and new moves he also teaches Adam how to shoot the ball, how to dribble the ball, and how to score, in return Adam teaches Grayson multiplication and math.  - Beseleel

This newspaper article was very informative about the latest shoulder pad tech. CarbonTek shoulder pads are 10% lighter than regular shoulder pads, and the company makes claims that the pads disperse heat 20% better than standard options. Recent impact tests that slam the pads with 600 pound weights Revealed that the pads outperformed all the other pads and miraculously provided a 63% reduction in the average force fell through the system. These pads have two parts in the complete shoulder pads, first they have the carbon fiber exoskeleton and second they have the dual density foam vest.

Year in sports 2011 by scholastic

This is a very good book filled with interesting facts, new updates on sports, and this book tells you many things that you never would've guessed you knew about sports. If you play weird and wild sports this book will give you plenty of information on weird and wild sports. One of the things I did not like is that there was there were so many typos, for example the man who picked off Peyton Manning in the last seconds of the Super Bowl's name was spelled Terry Potter in one part of the book and Tracy Potter in another part of the book. Also plenty of names were spelled the wrong way, in some cases in the NHL section they would "accidentally" put in NFL instead of NHL. Overall this is a very nice book if you're researching about sports or trying to write a very good report about sports. I will look forward to seeing the next Year in sports book even though I'm a little late to read them.

Batboy By Mike Lupica

Batboy is a book about a 14-year-old kid, Brian who is a huge fan of the Detroit Tigers Baseball team. He sends a letter to them asking to be the batboy. They accept! He soon spends every day shining shoes collecting broken bats and constantly trying to get his favorite athlete Hank Bishop a great athlete who was suspended twice from baseball for taking steroids.
Soon Brian Starts to think that Hank is trying to work him breaking bats every day rubbing his shoes in dirt and worst of all falling in love with Brains mom: Taking her time away from him.
I would recommend this book to kids ages 8-14 mostly boys who like baseball and realistic fiction I would recommend most mike Lupica books if you like this great book.

Long Shot is about a boy named Pedro who runs for class president against the most popular kid in school: Ned. The best athlete, school worker, and the most humorous. Soon Ned who always made Pedro look good in basketball sets him up. Throwing passes inches too low, playing point guard to guard Pedro and steal his position as Point guard. Soon Pedro goes from Second best on the team to benchwarmer. Who will win the battle of popularity and will the friendship be ever changed.
If you like books with lessons you will like this book Because of a big turnaround at the also sports fans this is the book for you Pedro plays basketball and gets his job back. How? Read to find out.
I’d recommend this book for boy’s ages 8-14. Read Long Shot and your eyes will be glued to the book for at least three days.

No More Dead Dogs by Gordon Korman

No More Dead Dogs is about an eighth grade, football hero named Wallace Wallace. He never, ever, ever lies. If his mom was held at gunpoint, he wouldn't lie. But in English class his teacher Mr. Fogelman gave him detention, because he was mad about a truthful essay Wallace had written about his favorite book.
Since Mr. Fogelman is the director of thier school play, that's where Wallace has to have detention. The play turns out ot be Old Shep, My Pal, the same as the book Wallace has to write a report on. Mr. Fogelman hopes watching the actors will inspire Wallace with his book report.
During detention Wallace works to improve the play, tries to get out of detention, and tries to get his friends back (you'll have to read the book to find out why).
This is a great story and I would recommend it to you guys.
