If this book were set 100 years in the future or the past from when it takes place, what might be different about the plot, characters, etc.?
If the book was set one hundred years in the future it would be a lot different. The shops wold be more money. The supplies would be more expensive to. Everyone would be wearing different clothing so there wouldn't be so many pockets in them to put ingredients for medicine in. Also everyone would act differently.
