A long Walk to Water, has 2 different stories in the one book. The main one is about Salva Dut, whose town was attacked. He is unsure where his parents are, so he joins a group that will walk to a camp in Ethiopia.
The plotline is a true story, but some scenes are made up. Salva Dut is a real person. Although he lives in New York now, he started a program to give healthy water to people in Southern Sudan, as people get illnesses from drinking dirty water.
