Ms. Spitfire by Sarah Miller

Miss Spitfire is a book about Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan by Sarah Miller. Helen Keller, among other things, was the first deaf and blind person to earn a college degree. She became deaf and blind because of a bad case of scarlet fever when she was one. This book is different from other books about Helen Keller because it is written from the perspective of her partly blind teacher, Anne Sullivan. Anne Sullivan began teaching Helen when Helen was six years old. Helen had almost no communication with the outside world and was a very misbehaving child, to say the least. This book follows Anne as she tries to tame Helen and show her how to communicate. I really liked this book and would recommend it to people ages nine through twelve.
