The Red Pencil by Andrea Davis Pinkney is really good.It has poems and drawings and it is amazing.Amira lives on a farm in Darfur Sudan.She and her family are totally normal and their only conflict is who can grow more tomatoes on the neighboring farms.She wants to read and write but after the Janjaweed militia destroys her village it seems even more impossible.Even in the bad situations, Amira remains really hopeful.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants an amazing book!
