Artemis is a very smart Irish boy that is a criminal. He and his body guard, butler manage to capture Holly, Fairy Captain Short, who works for the LEPrecon in the first book. He then becomes friends with the Faires or "the people" and goes with them on many adventures to catch and even more surprisingly, learns new things about life below ground. you would have to read the other books in the series to understand this book.
