this one summer, by Jillian and Mariko Tamaki
when i read other books, i think, I've read this whole long thing, full of kids my age ( 12 ) and not one of them has sworn! i just seems kinda unrealistic. as a kid, i know how we talk to each other. this one summer is a great book because the dialogue seems really believable. i can see my friends and i saying things like this, and its hard not to like something you see yourself in so much. yeah, the themes and adult, but we talk about the hard stuff too, so why should this be any different? also, the illustrations are beautiful.
