The difference in the movie and in the book of How to Train your Dragon is that in the movie (spoiler!) Hiccup trains and tames the dragons instead of killing them, and Hiccup's dragon is the so called legendary Night Fury, but in the BOOK Hiccup is the best at sword fighting, and his dragon is weak and scared to fight at all, plus in the book Hiccup was the so called third Hiccup.
