‘Because of Mr. Terupt’ by Rob Buyea

I have heard many people say that they loved the book ‘Because of Mr. Terupt’ by Rob Buyea. I saw it on my school’s summer reading list, so I decided to read it. I went to the Cambridge Public Library to check out a copy. However, there weren’t any left. I asked the librarian for a copy, and she had to request it from another branch, even though the Library currently retains more than six copies. I opened the book with high expectations. However,
those did not prepare me for what came in those 268 pages.
The narration alternates between 7 very different students: Luke; the smartest kid in the class, Jessica; an intellectual new girl from California, Jeffery; the hater of school with a secret, Danielle; who never stands up for herself, Peter; the troublemaker, Anna; the shy outcast with a not-so-secret secret, and Alexia, the bully. Mr. Terupt is the new teacher who changes their lives. They each learn more about themselves and others until a horrible accident happens and all changes. This book is one of the greatest books of all time
