A cat named Rusty goes into the woods to look around. there he catches a mouse, and another cat named Blue-star sees him do that. Blue-star is the leader in a clan called Thunderclan. Rusty soon gets to join the clan. He learns that there is three other clans in the forest; Riverclan, windclan, and shadowclan. They have battles with each other and meetings. If you are a kitten that was born in the forest by one of the cats in the clan, then you start out as a kit, then when you are six moons old (months), you are an apprentice, then when the leader of the clan thinks that you are ready to be a warrior, then you can get your warrior name. You even might become a leader if you are told to be deputy and then the leader dies. If you are a leader then you have to have the word "star" in your name.
this is a book in a very long series. Rusty ends out being calles Firepaw when he is an apprentic, then Fireheart when he becomes a warrior, and Firestar when he becomes clan leader for Thunderclan!
