What would you like to tell us about the book?
Heat, by Mike Lupica, is one of his many sports books for children. It is 220 pages long. It takes place in the South Bronx, right near Yankee Stadium. It is about a boy named Michael Arroyo, who loves the Yankees and even more their star pitcher “El Grande”. But with his father dead, he only has his 16 year old brother Carlos, left alive in the family. Michael, who has the best arm in his little league, easily strikes out even the best hitters. But soon people start questioning him about throwing so fast and being only 12 years old. Soon, the ACS gets into it and with no birth certificate or father, Michael and Carlos have to get a man to fake being their father so that they can stay together. Soon Michael meets a girl named Ellie who just might be able to solve all their problems. Overall, I thought Heat was great and if you like baseball you should definitely read it.
