Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
I bought this book out of curiosity and because I heard it was a decent book. Plus, it's part of a series which means I can read more of the story!
Anyway, I didn't like the beginning. It wasn't grabbing and it just sounded like Ethan was complaining about how is life in Gatlin County sucks and how we wants to get out. Basically, it was just whining. I was close to abandoning the book until Lena came in.
I like Lena. She is unpredictable which is nice in a story where its set in a predictable town. Lena brings a spin to the story and makes it much more interesting. Every action of hers is pretty important since she is powerful. However, I did find her annoying in the sense that she was stubborn and constantly thought she would go Dark. **SPOILER ALERT** The thing is, she didn't. She's only Light and Dark which is weird. I don't understand that. What I also don't understand is why she didn't just choose to go Light and kill all those who were Dark. In reality, Macon would have died both ways which really wouldn't have mattered. **SPOILER ALERT OVER**
I think Macon was my favorite character because he was mysterious and different. He is headstrong and does what he thinks is right even though others disagree. Macon is cool and reminds me of Hagrid and Dumbledore's love child (except he looks better than whatever the two warlocks would produce).
I would recommend this book to people who did enjoy Twilight, HG, or HP. It's one of those magical books with weird creatures and love. Like I said before, the beginning is slow but once you get into the 200s, the story gets really interesting.
Enjoy!

Shatterproof by Roland Smith
Shatterproof was an OK book. Two kids named Amy and Dan have to steal the largest diamond in the world. (spoiler alert!) In the end they realized that it was IMPOSSIBLE. Then they realized that the person who forced them to steal it was just playing a trick on them. I didn't really get that part.

The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall by Mary Downing Hahn
The Ghost of Crutchfield Hall is a wonderful story based on fantasy. It tells about the life of a orphan that lived in a orphanage with a cranky caretaker. One day, her uncle she never knew she had opened the doors to a new start and invited her to live with him in Crutchfield Hall. When things start to look good, the little orphan meets her aunt and everything starts to go South. Then when it seems like nothing could make it worse, Sophia, aunties perfect daughter's past life comes back as a ghost. She starts to have mixed feelings of confusion and utter terror, not knowing whether she should be happy, freaked out or both.
"Uncle said the dead did not return. He was wrong." If that does not encourage you to read the book then I have no idea what will.
