Darkwing by Kenneth Oppel

I think this is a really good book for 5th and 6th graders, maybe up, but the reason i like Darkwing is that it's really full of adventure. This book is about a mythical creature which is called a chiropter (its like a bat), and in this book they glide not fly. But theres a chiropter who can fly and the community doesn't like it. Meanwhile there are these other animals that made a treaty not to eat meat from other mythical creatures. But a few of those animals break the treaty and come their area to eat them. Read to find out what happens next!

This book is about a strange and futuristic town called Falling Bird. Siblings India, Finn, and Mouse are sent to live with their uncle Red in Colorado when their plane hits turbulance. They land alone in Falling Bird airport where a 12 year-old kid named Chuck drives them to the town in a pink taxi covered in feathers.
