Amulet: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi

It's about a girl named Emily and her family when they enter a weird world called Alledia. Emily finds an amulet and then finds out that she is a stonekeeper and that she inherited that amulet from her great-grandfather named Silas, who used to be one of the most powerful stonekeepers ever. Her mother gets kidnapped by these spider/monster things. Emily and her brother set out to save her with the help of Silas' robot creations. It's awesome.
