Stargirl By: Jerry Spinelli

Stargirl is a book about being yourself, no matter what pressure is put upon you.
Stargirl is a girl who moves into town and goes to the public high school, where all kids who live in that town go. Right from the start, everyone can tell that she is different from the rest of them. From how she wears frilly long dresses on casual days, to how during lunch period she strums her ukulele and sings "Happy Birthday" to students on their birthday, she brings they school together in a way they've never known. The school basketball team, that hasn't won a single game in decades, is unbeatable. The school is at it's finest. That is, until they aren't. Whether it was Stargirl's cheering for both teams at basketball games, or her appearance on Leo Borlock's ( Stargirl's admirer and crush) student-run reality TV show, Hot Seat, or her uninvited presence at events, the student body has suddenly turned against her. Leo immediately tries to save her, telling her to become more-normal. Will she try to blend in with the crowd or st ay the same forever? Find out in Jerry Spinelli's Stargirl.
