I bought Almost Home at my school's book fair, and I brought it as my only book on a month long trip. I ended up reading it twice, and starting it a third time. This book is about a girl, Sugar, who becomes homeless, and when her mom has to go the hospital, goes into foster care along with her dog. She also corresponds with the English teacher she loved and had to leave, sharing her feelings in the form of poems. The book has difficult moments, and shows struggles of having to move away. On the other hand, even though it isn't very dramatic, this book moves quickly enough that you will never want to put it down. I love how this book shows the powers of little things, like fresh paint or a rubber chicken. Almost Home is one of those amazing books that carries you through a story smoothly, and ends with a satisfying end that still allows room for Sugar's life to continue. I recommend it to anyone!
